Craig Thompson Eventing
Thank you for visiting craigthompsoneventing.com, where I hope
you will find a bit about me and my perspective on training event
horses, as well as useful information about how I might help you
with your own eventing needs.
I have been involved with event horses all of my professional life,
first as a rider, then as a trainer and coach, and more recently
as a course designer and horse trials organizer. Having spent a
good portion of the last fifteen years in Middleburg, Virginia,
I am now located in the east coast's fastest growing horse country,
Aiken, South Carolina.
My horses and students have placed consistently well at every level of competition. In 2008 I enjoyed top three placings from Beginner Novice through Advanced. Most notably my Advanced horse Orion, who I started as a three-year-old in 2003, returned to competition from a nine month hiatus to place 3rd at Millbrook and at Plantation, as well as winning the Area II Advanced Championships.
Over the years I have been lucky enough to train with some of eventing's
modern masters -- Wash Bishop, Mike Plumb, David O'Connor, Phillip
Dutton. In addition to my own horses, I started top Kentucky and
Burghly finisher Sloopy, Pan American Games medalist Shared Dreams,
and Radnor winner Nicki Henley.
I love waking up every day and training horses and riders. Please
take some time to look around the website; if I can be of any help
with your training, competition or other eventing needs, I hope
you'll feel free to ask.
Best wishes,
Craig Thompson
